This week in class we talked about Karl Marx and his thoughts on Capitalism. Karl Marx was an advocate for industrial workers and was one of the first to critique capitalism.
We discussed the differences between the Bourgeoisie and the working class and how that caused class struggle. The Bourgeoisie believed more in the production of the work whereas the working class believed more in the power of labor going into the work. The class conflict eventually led to the bourgeoisie to overthrow the feudal government and in return, the workers would rise up against the bourgeoisie.
Do you think Karl Marx would be considered a Capitalist?
Going back to the revolutions, it was seen that the Bourgeoisie were worse than the feudal system because in feudalism they fed and gave shelter to the slaves however, in the capitalist Bourgeoisie system they were all on their own. Being on their own, with their low wages showed the workers that they were actually worse off than before.
On Friday, we slightly discussed if we could have pure communism in today's society and the main answer was no, because humans are selfish. It was then mentioned that Marx would believe that humans were actually not selfish and that capitalism is what makes them selfish. Therefore, if you were to remove capitalism from the equation, could today's society function in a communist way?
To answer your question about Marx. I do not think he would be a capitalist because of his investigating capitalism, and finding the problems that related to the mysery of the laborer. He was the first one to reveal that capitalists only cared about making money on money to build more and more profit for themselves. I think Marx's problem with capitalism was the business world totally controlling every aspect of society. I do not like
ReplyDeletethe fact that big business has an impact in our society, especially governmental power.
